Gü Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert Recalled Over Undeclared Hazelnuts and Soya

May 28, 2026
FSA-AA-28-2026

A caramel pudding is the last place most people would think to check for nuts, which is precisely why this recall matters. Gü is pulling a batch of its Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert after it emerged the pots contain hazelnuts and soya that aren't listed on the label. If you've got one of these in the freezer and anyone in the house reacts to nuts or soya, this is one to sort out before pudding tonight.

What's Affected

  • Product: Gü Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert
  • Pack size: 2 x 85g
  • Batch code: 126135
  • Best before: 30 June 2027

Only the single batch above is involved, so the date code and lot number are what to look for. Check the base or lid of the pack against 126135 and a best before of 30 June 2027. If yours doesn't match, it isn't part of this recall.

What You Should Do

If you have an allergy to hazelnuts (or other nuts) or to soya:

  • Don't eat it. Nut allergies in particular can trigger fast, severe reactions, and a sea salted caramel dessert gives no obvious clue that hazelnuts are inside.
  • Return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund. You don't need a receipt.
  • Already eaten some? Watch for symptoms such as stomach cramps, vomiting, an itchy rash or hives, swelling of the face, lips or throat, or any difficulty breathing. For a severe reaction, use your adrenaline auto-injector straight away and call 999.
  • No nut or soya allergy in the household? The dessert is safe to eat. The recall is only about the missing allergen information on the label, not about anything wrong with the food itself.

Why Allergens Slip Off the Label

A frozen caramel dessert sounds simple, but the recipe behind it rarely is. Caramel and chocolate components often carry hazelnut, and lecithin, a common emulsifier, is frequently derived from soya. When a single batch goes out with packaging that doesn't list those ingredients, it usually points to a recipe change, a supplier swap, or the wrong outer being applied on the line. For an allergic shopper, the result is the same either way: a hidden hazard in a product they had no reason to suspect. If you or someone you cook for avoids nuts or soya, the FSA alerts page is the most reliable place to keep on top of recalls like this one.
