Lambertz has recalled two biscuit products sold at Home Bargains because the allergen information is not declared in English. The 3 October FSA alert identifies ingredients and precautionary warnings that shoppers managing allergies or coeliac disease could miss.
| Product | Pack size | Best before |
|---|---|---|
| Lambertz Mini Spekulatius | 150g | 30 August 2027 |
| Lambertz Christmas Tree Cookies | 160g | 17 May 2027 |
The notice lists barley and wheat, hazelnuts, milk components including lactose and whey, and soya lecithin as present. It also warns of the possible presence of egg, lupin, other nuts, peanuts and sesame. These are different kinds of warning: a possible-presence statement does not mean every listed allergen is a deliberate ingredient.
If you have coeliac disease or an allergy or intolerance covered by the notice, do not eat the affected cookies. Return them to your local Home Bargains for a full refund.
An ingredients list can exist and still be unusable to someone who cannot read it. Here, the recall concerns missing English allergen information; the notice does not describe bacteria or foreign objects in the biscuits. The practical problem is deciding whether the contents fit someone's dietary needs.
The government’s allergen-labelling guide explains how allergenic ingredients and possible cross-contact warnings are presented. For these recalled packs, use the FSA’s list when assessing the risk.
Both affected best-before dates fall in 2027, so packs bought for later use may still be in cupboards or gift bags. Check the two product names and their different dates before opening them or passing them to someone else. If you have already given a pack away, send the recipient the recall link and the pack details.
