Foil in a packet of crisps isn't something you'd ever spot until it's already in your mouth. Lidl GB is recalling a batch of its Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper after it emerged the snacks may contain pieces of foil, which makes them a possible choking hazard and unsafe to eat. These are a six-pack multibag, the kind that ends up in lunchboxes and snack drawers, so it's worth a quick check if you've bought them recently.
Only this one batch is affected. The batch code and best-before date are printed on the packaging, so check those before you do anything else. Multipacks bought outside this batch aren't part of the recall.

Snacks like these are made on fast-moving lines where the seasoning, the bites and the foil-lined packaging all come together at speed. Once a stray piece of foil slips into the mix and the bag is sealed, a shopper has almost no chance of spotting it. That's why a single batch can trigger a full recall. Contamination cases like this come up often enough, and the FSA alerts page is the most reliable place to keep track of what's being pulled from shelves.
